Editing
James Madison Undergraduate Research Journal
From January 2014 to May 2016, I served as a managing editor for the James Madison Undergraduate Research Journal (JMURJ). I joined the editorial board as JMURJ was putting together its first volume, meaning that I led a small team to copyedit the final versions of the articles and the journal as a whole. For the second and third volumes, I played a key role in the editing process for the articles. Working with the other editors, I corresponded with the authors describing our suggested (more substantial) changes and copyedited the final drafts.
My role as managing editor also included organizing submissions as we received them and sending out the submissions for initial screening by our board members. I correlated feedback from the editorial board and our reviewers and sent appropriate responses to our student authors. Additionally, I managed part of the JMURJ email account, answering questions from students and professors. |
